Fat (Winter) Biking

Due to the growing popularity of winter biking, the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation along with our partners at VMBA and VAST is pleased to announce that we will continue our Program for Winter Fat Biking for 2020-21. The opening date for this season will be December 19, 2020 and the closing date will be determined by snow/freezing conditions in April 2021. All activities are subject to change per COVID-19 guidance from the Governor's office: please see https://fpr.vermont.gov/recreation/outdoor-recreation-and-covid-19

Fat bikes are allowed on VAST trails on state lands as well as select groomed and ungroomed trail locations.

Contact Jessica Savage at Jessica.savage@vermont.gov with any questions or comments.

Please see our Fat (Winter) Biking Etiquette (downloads as Word Document) for best practices for riding fat bikes in the winter and respect other users on the trail.
