Vermont leads the nation in percent of homes that heat with wood as their primary fuel source, 14% according to the 2010 US census. Vermonters heat with wood and pellet stoves, as well as high efficiency wood and pellet boilers.
The 2015 Residential Fuel Assessment contains a wealth of information on the use of wood heating in Vermont. It was completed in a joint effort between FPR and the Department of Public Service.
