Park events

Linda Quinlan’s book of poetry “Chelsea Creek” was published by Brickhouse Press. She won the “Wicked Women’s” poetry award and was Poet of the Year in Wisconsin. She published in many journals some of which include Sinister Wisdom, New Orleans Review and Black Mountain Press. She cohosts a T V Show All Things LGBTQ and lives in Montpelier with her partner.

Words in the Woods is a partnership between Vermont State Parks and Vermont Humanities Council that features live nature-based poetry readings in state parks across Vermont.

Programs are included with $5 state park entry fee.

Join Hard Scrabble, a Vermont-based, acoustic band that plays a blend of bluegrass, blues and acoustic covers.

In 1776, “Commodore” Benedict Arnold lost Lake Champlain and saved the American Revolution—come learn how as we trace the short life of the first American Navy. One half-hour, meets at the Nature Center.

Travel 460 million years back in time on this guided walk along the Champlain Trail to our gastropod--snail--fossil beds. Forty minutes, departs from Day Use and finishes at the Nature Center. 

In its original range, the invasive shrub buckthorn has been used in ink-making for thousands of years. Come paint with buckthorn ink and learn how to make your own! Twenty minutes, qualifies as a Junior Ranger service project. Meets in Day Use.

Come listen as the Park’s naturalist reads Bat Loves the Night and Big Brown Bat, followed by a bat craft. One half-hour, ages 4 and up. Meets at Campsite 33.
