New Forest Management Plan for Milton Town Forest Focuses on Biodiversity, Demonstration and Education

A new forest management plan for the Milton Town Forest was approved by the Milton Select Board on July 18. The plan was prepared for the Town of Milton by Ethan Tapper, the Chittenden County Forester with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation, working in conjunction with the Milton Conservation Commission over the last two years

Camel’s Hump Monroe Trailhead Parking Area Will Be Closed During Construction

August 11, 2022

The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation (FPR) will be initiating a project on August 15th through a contractor to expand the existing parking capacity servicing the Monroe Trail in Camel’s Hump State Park in Duxbury.

One of the Department’s thirteen county foresters, Ethan Tapper, Chittenden County Forester, was presented with the Cooperative Forest Management Forester of the Year Award from the Northeast-Midwest State Foresters Alliance. This regional award is highly competitive and presented annually.

Advance Reservations for Waterbury Reservoir Remote Campsites Beginning May 2, 2022

Kayakers enjoy a paddle on Waterbury Reservoir.

Beginning May 2, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., all 27 remote campsites along the reservoir perimeter will become available to reserve for any date in the 2022 operating season. Beginning June 2, 2022, at 9:00am, reservations for the 2023 season will become available to be reserved up to 11 months in advance.
