Meet at Bomoseen State Park entrance gate

Nothing showcases the unique natural beauty of this region as perfectly as the Glen Lake Trail at Bomoseen State Park. This is an all day there-and-back hike that will take us from Bomoseen State Park to Half Moon Pond State Park. We will meet at the Bomoseen entrance gate at 8:00AM and cover a wide range of terrain. We will stop for a lunch break at the Half Moon campground. Please dress in layers and plan accordingly. This hike is moderate to challenging in difficulty and is not recommended for beginners.

Meeting Location: Meet at the Bomoseen State Park Gate, 22 Cedar Mountain Rd., Castleton, VT 05743

Hike Description: Easy, one mile, family friendly hike that winds through some of the quarries, rubble piles and building ruins of the West Castleton Railroad and Slate Company. Traction aides and/or snowshoes required depending on conditions.

Learn about one of the most iconic rocks of the region while creating a masterpiece to take home! 

Location: Bomoseen day use beach 

Explore the ruins of an abandoned 19th century slate mining town on this guided 3/4 mile hike! 

Location: Meet at the Bomoseen park office at 10am

Enjoy the 1.6 mile Bomoseen loop trail while learning about and perhaps spotting some of the park nighttime visitors 

Location: Meet at the Bomoseen Park office at 6pm

Stop by to learn about the birds of Bomoseen State Park while making your very own birdfeeder out of a pinecone! 

Learn about the trees of Bomoseen State Park while sampling some of the tasty treats made from them
