Astronomy on the Beach: Night 2 at Elmore State Park

Come down to the beach on Sunday, July 21 at 8 PM to see the solar system’s two giant planets – Jupiter and Saturn. You’ll see:

• Jupiter and several of its moons (644 million miles).

• Saturn and its rings (1.3 billion miles).

• Perhaps a tiny smoke ring (M57) that’s all that’s left of a exploded star (13 quadrillion miles).

Turn your flashlight off as you walk down to the beach to let your eyes adapt to the darkness. And bring a jacket – it gets cold after dark. Hope to see you then!
