The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation is requesting information from forest economy businesses and landowners to understand the overall impact of the flooding on July 10-11, 2024. Survey data will be used to inform response efforts and advocate for future relief and recovery programs.

Complete the 2024 Flood Loss & Damage Survey

This survey will remain open until August 20, 2024.

Those who also sustained losses should also report their damages to 211, on the Vermont 211 website or call 2-1-1. Note that there are different forms to complete for “personal” and for “business” damage. Reporting damage to 211 will help determine whether a certain county is eligible for federal FEMA resources.

Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation Flood Impact Survey Released

Montpelier, VT – Forest economy businesses and landowners affected by July 2024 flooding are asked to complete a Flood Impact survey to capture loss and damage to the forestry community. Following major flooding caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl on July 10-11, 2024, the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (FPR) is launching a new Flood Impact Survey to understand the impact on Vermont’s forest economy.

Last week’s flooding, combined with severe weather from last season, has compounded the challenges faced by the state’s forestry sector, leaving many forest economy businesses and landowners struggling with uncertainty and loss.

As a result, FPR is requesting that forest economy businesses and landowners participate in the 2024 Flood Impact Survey. This survey aims to document the type and extent of the damage experienced by Vermont’s forest products sector and forest landowners. The survey will remain open to capture information on loss and damages until August 20, 2024.

FPR asks that any forest economy business, such as logging contractors, consulting foresters, sawmills, and forest products truckers, as well as forest landowners fill out this survey. This effort is crucial for informing response efforts and advocating for future relief and recovery programs. The survey should take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete. Those who also sustained losses should report thier damages to 211, as well.
