Westmore, Vt. — The trails on Mount Pisgah in Willoughby State Forest will be closed for several days this weekend beginning Friday, May 19. The Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation is asking hikers to please be respectful of the trail closure situation and find alternative places to hike this weekend. 

VT Trail Projects to Receive Over $540K in State Recreation Grants

Governor Phil Scott today announced the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (FPR) is awarding $547,571 in grant money from the Recreational Trails Program to help fund 14 significant trail projects across Vermont.

Grant funds are made available each year through the federal Recreational Trails Program for municipalities and nonprofit organizations to build and maintain public recreational trails.

Vermont – Today the Green Mountain Club (GMC), maintainer of Vermont’s Long Trail and Vermont’s hiking trails advocate, along with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (VTFPR), manager of State Forests and Parks, and the Green Mountain National Forest (GMNF), announce the return of Mud Season to the Green Mountains.
