Welcome to Brighton State Parks Nature Center! Check out the Rocks, Geods, and Crystals! are they one and the same? Which stone Crystal did King Tut wear? Which Crystals come from the ocean, the desert, or the sky? We'll talk about the three different cats that roam in Brighton State Park, in the past, present and maybe future! What's the difference between a fisher cat and a real cat? We'll do a Native American Clay Pinch Pot! How did the Cherokee's seal their pots and make them water proof? You may also have the choice of making a beautiful Native American Sand Art for a special Christmas gift! 

Come join Laura Lee at the Amphitheater, we'll talk about the early names of Brighton and give a little history about the park. Then we'll hike the Main Trail through the Shore Line Trail and up to Eagle Point and Indian Point! Check out those wild blueberries, huckle berries and remember the teaberry gum which plant did that come from? Who was the Native American family lived above Spectacle Pond for more than a decade?   

Come visit with Laura Lee and talk about Brother Beaver! What other animal shares the Pond with him? Can they get along? What are their differences?  We'll also talk about the mid 1700s to present! What animals were hunted to extinction, what animal had to be imported from Maine and NY because our eco-system needs them? Then as usual we'll enjoy making a craft together!  (5!

Meet Laura Lee at Spectacle Pond, learn a bit about a kettle pond and head for a hike along the Shore Line Trail, through the Natural Red Pine Trail, and back through the Wooded Loop Trail. Can you spot the biggest Natural Red Pine Tree in Vermont? Check out those wild blueberries along the way! You might spot some huckleberries too! This hike will run for two Fridays in a row!

Come meet Laura Lee at the Boreal Forest Trail Head! We'll talk about the Boreal Forest, it's animal inhabitants and some about the flora and fauna! You'll receive a card with and animal name written on it, then you'll hunt for the animal track that fits that animal. Can your animal live in the Boreal Forest year round? Why? or Why Not? This program will run for two Thursdays in a row!

Meet Laura Lee at the Amphitheater and have a guided hike. We'll learn some history about Brighton State Park, the early settlers, and how the only Natural Red Pine forest in Vermont came to be. On the way back we'll check out the biggest Red Pine in Vermont. Whose Chief War Eagle and his son Don Eagle?
