Join for a 1.5 mile hike to the beautiful Falls of Lana! Hike is moderate and involves some scrambling. Meet at park entry station to join, and wear close-toed shoes and bug spray.

Join us throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday to celebrate Smokey's 78 years working to prevent wildfires--storytimes, craft projects, fire safety basics, and a party, featuring a few appearances by the bear himself! There will also be a scavenger hunt on for the duration of the weekend--ask at the park's front office for your first clue.

The Oldest Ink
Fire doesn’t just make heat—for thousands of years, people have used soot to make ink. Let’s make some of our own! Ages 6 and up.

Camp Cooking without Fire
Depending on the weather, we will either be construction simple solar cookers or learning techniques to keep food cooking after the fire’s gone out.
2-3 p.m. @ Nature Center
Firebuilding Safety
Learn the basics of building safe fires while hearing about the history of fire in the New England forest. Ages 6 and up.

Join Smokey Bear and the Button Bay Park Staff as he celebrates his 78th birthday. They’ve planned food, song, and games—come on by!
