Nature Craft Dwelling Workshop: Meet by the Cedars near the Boat Launch bathrooms build a small dwelling (also known as “Fairy Houses”) out of all natural, biodegradable materials in the Eastern White cedar forest nearby. Some of the tips & techniques could be used to build your own shelter in a pinch! Be sure to bring a camera to capture your creation before you leave it for its future occupants.
Marsh Brook Explorers: An aquatic catch and release adventure in the Marsh brook near the entrance to the Nature & Field trails. Learn how to find and capture aquatic macro-invertebrates, crayfish, amphibians, and small brook fish to observe. Try to catch and observe as much variety as possible in an observation container until it is time to release them back to Marsh brook to let them do what they do best.

In its original range, the invasive shrub buckthorn has been used in ink-making for thousands of years. Let’s make our own ink while helping to curb the spread of buckthorn in the park! Twenty minutes, qualifies as a Junior Ranger service project. Meets in Day Use.
Travel 460 million years back in time to Ordovician Vermont on this guided walk along the Champlain Trail to our gastropod fossil beds. One half-hour, departs from Day Use and finishes at the Nature Center.
Learn how ancient reefs and mile-tall glaciers created the clay “button” rocks that gave the park its name—and make a model of your own with just kitchen supplies! One half-hour, model will take an additional half-hour to harden. Ages 4 and up. Meets at the Nature Center.
