Time Travel Table at Mt. Ascutney State Park (weather permitting)

Are the summit trails a good fit for your hiking party? Is Mount Ascutney a volcano? Which plants and animals are you likely to meet on the trails today? Stop by the interpretive table at the summit trailhead to find out more, or ask to have your photo taken from the parking area overlook. Table hours (weather permitting) 11:00am-5:00pm.

What would you experience at key moments in the past, present, and future of Mt. Ascutney? The mountain has its own long history of change, but its past, present, and future are tied to our own.

 

Lake Carmi Nature Center: Nature Forensics (Reading the Park's Landscape)

Nature Forensics(Reading the Park's Landscape): Take a guided tour along the Stone wall & Marsh Brook paths on the Field Trail.  Learn about Carmi’s long history of its ecosystem and human impacts from the prehistoric tribes to European settlement by the Marsh family and the many farms that followed, and finally to its transformation into the state park we know and love.  Full tour starts at the Nature Center and ends at the stone wall above the Contact Station.

The Bountiful Backyard: Did you know there may be an abundant harvest growing wild in your backyard?  Take a guided tour through the day use area to learn about many common wild edible plants that may also be growing in your backyard!  Learn how to harvest wild edibles safely and sustainably so that future generations can continue to enjoy them. This is a beginner course so they are easy to find & safe to harvest.
