Professional loggers provide an important service to forest landowners. Many forest stewardship activities are accomplished through timber harvesting. Loggers form a critical link between the landowner and the forester by implementing forest management goals that can be attained through responsible timber harvesting. Today’s logging contractor understands that the credibility of his/her profession relies heavily on maintaining sustainable forest practices, safe working conditions, and reliable business practices. The Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation recognizes professional loggers as instrumental to keeping Vermont’s working forest landscape vibrant and thus is actively engaged in supporting logger education efforts.
