Mrs. Vermont 2015 Teaming Up With Vermont State Parks To Get Kids Outside This Summer

MONTPELIER - Dorilee LeBlanc, aka Mrs. Vermont 2015, will be joining Vermont State Parks in a series of events designed to get children outside and active by incorporating fun activities and games into her visits. As part of the Mrs. America 2015 Pageant, her social mission is to get kids “unplugged and in the great outdoors.”

Events with Mrs. Vermont will also provide kids with points toward the Venture Vermont Outdoor Challenge, in which they complete activities to earn points that will result in free park admission for the rest of this season and the 2016 season.

“I’m so excited to be working with the Vermont State Parks this summer,” says Mrs. LeBlanc. “If everyone spent more time outdoors with their kids, the world would be a happier place.”

Events are free with paid park entry. The schedule of events is as follows:

Saturday, August 1st, 10am-noon: Mt. Philo State Park for a Summit Hike

Sunday, August 9th, 11am-1pm: Kingsland Bay State Park for Lawn Games and/or Water Fun

Saturday, August 15th, 11am: Little Loop Trail hike from Groton Nature Center (1 hour)

Saturday, August 15th, 5:30pm: Picnic Dinner on Owl's Head from Groton Nature Center

Although the 2015 Mrs. United States pageant has not disclosed its location, it will be taking place this fall. Vermont State Parks and Dorilee LeBlanc will be posting specifics via social media as soon as they are available. Follow Dorilee on  Facebook here.
