Winhall; Bennington County
This 32-acre section of Gale Meadows Wildlife Management Area (WMA) was a gift to the State in 1969 by Carroll and Emily Ford. This area will be preserved to allow natural processes and ecological functions to continue. However, its small size and landscape fragmentation, due to development, degrades its ecological value considerably. The majority of the area is mapped deer wintering area.
Non-motorized recreational activities that are dispersed activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are allowed. Motorized recreation, camping, mountain biking, hunting, trapping, fishing, and firearms are not allowed on this section of the WMA due to deed restrictions.
