Bonsawinno Wildlife Management Area

General Description & Acquisition Information:

The 281.4-acre Bonsawinno Wildlife Management Area (WMA) was purchased in 2018 by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. This parcel is located adjacent to and west of the Green Mountain Conservation Camp: Edward F. Kehoe (GMCC). The camp is operated by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department which holds a long-term lease on the property. The acquisition of Bonsawinno WMA allows for increased educational opportunity for outdoor programs administered by GMCC, as well as for the conservation of significant natural resources. The property is part of a large unfragmented forested block which functions as an “high priority interior block”.   

Recreation Overview:

Hunting, fishing and trapping area popular activities on the WMA. Wildlife viewing, particular bird watching, are also popular activities. Notably, Bullhead Pond, a natural pond and good largemouth bass fishery is on this parcel.
