Williams River State Forest

General Description:

Located on Popple Dungeon Road, this small parcel features hardwood forests, larch plantations, and several historic home sites.

Unique Features:

A large wetland/beaver pond near larch and spruce forests is an interesting ecological feature and wildlife habitat.

Recreation Overview:

A three-car parking lot and new access road were constructed in 2013 to replace what was lost to Tropical Storm Irene. The parcel is well suited to walking, snowshoeing, and hunting. Its small size and varied composition makes it a good place for a short family outing.

Planning Overview:

Part of the Grafton Management Unit, this parcel is due in the next several years for forest inventory and planning work.
