Alburgh, Grand Isle County
Phragmites Treatment at Alburgh Dunes State Park
The Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the treatment of phragmites at Alburg Dunes State Park. Work will consist of creating a treatment plan and implementing said plan. This is in contrast to a previously released (and then withdrawn) RFP for comprehensive invasive species inventory, planning, and eradication of multiple invasive plant species at Alburg Dunes State Park. The RFP can be viewed here: Alburgh Phragmites Treatment RFP. Addendum #1 contains questions submitted by contractors and answers to those questions.
Inventory work to identify areas of phragmites infestation was completed in March 2017 by Land Stewardship, Inc. The RFP includes a map and key for the inventory work. Additional information can be obtained from GIS shapefiles. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for the shapefiles.
There is no official site visit/showing associated with this RFP. Contractors are encouraged to visit the site prior to submitting bids. Most infested areas are found along the beach service road. Construction is currently underway near the main entrance of Alburgh Dunes State Park. As a result, access to the west end of the Beach Access Road from the main entrance on Coon Point Road will be difficult. Please access the Beach Service Road at the east end from the gate off Poor Farm Road. Turn down Poor Farm Road, then turn right at the sign for Sand Beach Road. Park near the gate. See map on p. 13 of the RFP.
Proposals are due by May 21st.
Thanks for your interest.
