Groton Nature Center Programs

8:30am-10: Looking for Loons

·         Come search for loons on Osmore Pond.  After a brief informational session at the shelter, we’ll hike along the Osmore Pond trail, as a lot of activity has been observed by a mating pair and their recently-hatched chicks. Meet at the Osmore Pond Pavilion in New Discovery State Park (very close to other parks along rt. 232).  Wear close-toed shoes and be prepared for bugs.  Bring your binoculars if you have them.

11am-noon: Story time at Stillwater Pavilion

·         Stop by anytime to hear nature-themed children’s stories

2-4pm: Tracks and Traces at Boulder Beach

·         Animals often leave evidence they have visited an area.  Come and learn about these clues they leave behind.  You can even make an animal track of your own to bring home!  Meet near the playground at Boulder Beach.

5:30-7pm: Guided Kayak Tour

Come join us for a lovely evening expedition onto Ricker Pond.  We’ll meet at the Ricker Pond Lower Parking Lot.  Please remember to bring suitable clothing and water.  Welcome to bring your own kayaks, but limited to 6 park boats, so please sign up in advance by calling the Ricker Pond Contact Station at 802-584-3821.
