To participate in the Federal Forest Legacy Program, states must delineate Forest Legacy Areas. Forest Legacy Areas identify important forestland within the state to focus the efforts of the state’s Forest Legacy Program. Please use the tool below to view the Vermont Forest Legacy Area, and to determine if specific lands are eligible for the Forest Legacy Program in Vermont. Once in the tool, you will see the Vermont Forest Legacy Area shaded in green. You can zoom in on the map to the area or parcel you would like to view. If you click a location on the map the tool will tell you whether that location is within the Forest Legacy Area and the SPAN number of that parcel. You can clear your search using the “Clear” button at the bottom, or check a new parcel by clicking on another location on the map.”
