There are several ways you can make a donation to the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. The Department is allowed by statute to accept donations of all types to further our mission and service to the State of Vermont.
Time
Volunteering at any of Vermont’s State Parks is a great way to give back. Volunteer opportunities can be found at virtually any state park. There are both short term and season long opportunities available. To learn more please visit the Vermont State Parks website.
Money
The Department is set up to accept money in different funds that may only be used for specific purposes.
The Lands and Facilities Trust Fund was set up in 2001 to provide for the management of ANR lands and facilities. You can read more about the Lands and Facilities Trust Fund and see all of the Annual Reports that detail the projects that it has funded here.
If you wish to make a tax deductible donation to the Lands and Facilities Trust Fund please make checks payable to “Vermont Lands and Facilities Trust Fund,” and send them to:
Lands and Facilities Trust Fund Business Office Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation 1 National Life Drive, Davis 2 Montpelier, VT 05620-3801
Another fund set up to accept donations is the Vermont Parks Forever: the Foundation for the Vermont State Parks. The organization’s purpose is to, “…seek and distribute charitable support to promote and enhance the vitality of the Vermont State Parks, through donations that supplement the public support provided by Vermont State government, in order that the Parks continue to be an asset of the State, to be enjoyed by residents and visitors, to be protected and conserved, and to signify Vermont’s commitment to conservation, recreation, public health and beauty for all.”
Land
The Department also welcomes donations of land. If you wish to make a tax deductible donation of land to the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation or the Department of Fish and Wildlife read more about our acquisiiton program.
