Parker Hill Road is a popular bluegrass band based in Lyman NH. The members include Chris Cate playing upright bass, and singing lead and harmony vocals, Tom Rappa, rhythm guitar, lead and harmony vocals, Mike “Woody” Woods, 5 string banjo, and backup vocals, and Paul Amey, fiddle, mandolin, lead and harmony vocals. Their repertoire includes toe tapping fiddle tunes, hard driving traditional bluegrass, as well as an occasional folk or country song. They also have a propensity to “bluegrasserize” certain pop tunes which has been a huge success for the band. All of their selections are complete with 3 part harmonies as well as multiple lead instrumentals. They play a range of venues, including the Pemi bluegrass festival in Campton/Thornton, summer concert series in a variety of towns, Old Home Day celebrations, The New Hampshire building at the Big E, weddings, anniversaries, and many other venues too numerous to mention. No concert goes by without an update on the true exploits and adventures of Woody, as told (and sometimes enhanced) by Chris. They have for the past eight years, been the house band for the Amey family music show in Pittsburg. The band currently has three CD’s out, one of them a live performance recorded in the Dorchester NH town hall.
